| Attracting Unwanted
Attention
A look at how you say more
when you say nothing at all
We all have a desire to express ourselves. Whether
it be through the music we listen to or the clothes that we wear,
what we surround ourselves with tells others about who we are or
who we want to be. Do the things that you surround yourself with
really represent who you are or how you would like to be perceived?
Stand in front of the mirror and take a good look at what you are
wearing. Does the way you dress cause you to receive unwanted attention?
• How tight do you wear you clothes?
• How revealing are your clothes?
• Do you try to tease boys by the wording you wear on your
t-shirt?
• What style of clothes best expresses who you are?
• Do you have any visible tattoos? If so, what are they of?
• Do you have an uncommon number of piercings in easily seen
places?
• Does this body art identify you with a particular grouping
of people?
Where you spend your
time…
• Where do you hang out?
• Do you party?
• Do you go to clubs, and if so, what type?
• What do you do when you have free time? Go out; stay in?
• When you do go out, who are you with?
• Do you go out to places for the purpose of meeting people?
• Do you go to places that you normally wouldn’t go
to because of who you are with?
• Are you involved in religious or politically oriented activities?
• What hobbies do you have?
• Are you involved in dance, cheerleading, theatre, band sports,
or other?
If you find yourself attracting unwanted attention
and you want to do something about it, take a good look at yourself
before anything else. Ask a trusted friend or a family member to
be brutally honest in what they think. Sometimes attracting unwanted
attention has nothing to do with you or what you wear, but if it
does, wouldn’t it be better to be aware of it? |
